Survey findings offer both a snapshot of ACSM TRENDS SURVEY METHODS ACSM's 2026 Worldwide Survey of Fitness Trends was de-signed to capture feedback from a global cross-section of exer-cise professionals working in commercial, community, clinical,and corporate settings. Trend items are reviewed and refinedannually by an appointed ACSM workgroup. Each year, surveyitems are added, revised, or removed based on the workgroup's definition of a“fitness trend”was updated to better distinguishenduring shifts in the field from short-term fads (Sidebar). The online survey was distributed via ACSM's email lists,newsletters, international partners, and social media platformsbetween May and June 2025. How the ACSM Trends Workgroup DefinesFitness Trends versus Fads TREND:A fitness trend is a widely adopted and/or sustainedpattern in health and fitness participation, professionalpractice, or industry offerings.
