The Consumer Perspectives on Vitamins, Minerals and Food and Beverage Fortification report conducted by FoodInsight in April 2021 surveyed 1,023 adults aged 18+ and found that most people consider the presence of specific vitamins and minerals at least sometimes when making food and drink choices. The report also found that dietary fiber, specific minerals (e.g. calcium, potassium, iron), total carbohydrate, sodium, total fat, saturated fat, calories, specific vitamins (e.g. vitamin C, vitamin D, B vitamins), added sugars, total sugars, and protein are the most commonly sought-out sources of vitamins and minerals. The report concludes that when choosing what to eat or drink each day, people consider the presence of specific vitamins and minerals at least sometimes.
