GENERATIONEQUALITYACCOUNTABILITY REPORT2023 ACTIONCOALITIONONECONOMICJUSTICEANDRIGHTS UNWOMEN UNWomenistheUnitedNationsentitydedicatedtogenderequalityandtheempowermentofwomen.Aglobalchampionforwomenandgirls,UNWomenwasestablishedtoaccelerateprogressonmeetingtheirneedsworldwide.UNWomensupportsUNMemberStatesastheysetglobalstandardsforachievinggenderequalityandworkswithgovernmentsandcivilsocietytodesignlaws,policies,programmesandservicesneededtoensurethatthestandardsareeffectivelyimplementedandtrulybenefitwomenandgirlsworldwide.ItworksgloballytomakethevisionoftheSustainableDevelopmentGoalsarealityforwomenandgirlsandstandsbehindwomen’sequalparticipationinallaspectsoflife,focusingonfourstrategicpriorities:1)Womenlead,participateinandbenefitequallyfromgovernancesystems;2)Womenhaveincomesecurity,decentworkandeconomicautonomy;3)Allwomenandgirlslivealifefreefromallformsofviolence;and4)Womenandgirlscontributetoandhavegreaterinfluenceonbuildingsustainablepeaceandresilience,andbenefitequallyfromthepreventionofnaturaldisastersandconflictsandhumanitarianaction.UNWomenalsocoordinatesandpromotestheUNsystem’sworkonadvancinggenderequality. Weneedcollectiveleadershipandunwaveringcommitmenttotackletheadversetrendsaffectinggenderequality.GenerationEquality,throughitswhole-of-societyapproach,servesasaguidinglight,mobilizingeffortstodismantleentrenchedinequalities,harnessnewenergyandelevateambition,cooperationandaccountability.Byforgingalliancesthatincludestakeholdersfromallwalksoflife,GenerationEqualityisdrivingtransformativeresultsforwomenandgirls. Asthisreportshows,inthethreeyearssincetheGenerationEqualityForumsinMexicoCityandParis,CommitmentMakershavepledgedatleastUSD$32billiontowomen’seconomicjusticeandrights.CommitmentMakershaveinitiatedorimplementedseveralinitiatives,including135policies,406advocacyinitiatives,andover440programmes.TheActionCoalitiononEconomicJusticeandRightsisacatalystthatbringsresourcesandstakeholderknow-howtoadvancetheglobalvisionofguaranteeingeconomicjusticeandrightsforallwomenandgirls. Atthesametime,thisreportrevealsthaturgentactionisstillneeded.Dataonfinancialinvestmentstowardscivilsociety,youthandadolescentgirl-ledorganizationsislimited,andtheyarebeneficiariesofonlyafractionofthereportedlysecuredbudgets. GenerationEqualityisakeyacceleratortoachievingtheinternationaldevelop-mentagenda.Women’seconomicjusticeandrightsisanecessaryenablerforachievinggenderequalityandattainingalloftheSDGs.Atthis68thSessionoftheCommissionontheStatusofWomen,Icalluponallsectorstoredoubletheireffortsandcommittogenderequalitythroughwomen’seconomicempowerment. 1 KEYFINDINGS 1 Stakeholdershavemovedquicklyonactionstoadvancewomen’seconomicjusticeandrightsworldwide.Basedonsurveyresults,12percentofeconomicjusticeandrightscommitmentsarealreadycompleted,85percentareinprogressorbeingplanned,2percentarenotstartedand,amongthelattertwocategories,96percentareontracktobecompletedby2026. 2 Strongallianceshav
