The article discusses the evolution of the role of Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) in recent years. Historically, CFOs were focused on compliance, reporting, and financial management, but advances in IT and pandemic-driven commercial pressures have transformed them into strategic masterminds. CFOs are now expected to provide real-time data and analytics to provide insights into their companies' operations and influence their strategic direction. They are also expected to serve as consultants and communicators. The article concludes that the biggest change in the CFO's role over the past five years is that it has gone from a tactical financial manager to a strategic partner to the CEO.
