4G & Other Subscriptions:
- Decline: Continued decline, reducing by 25 million as subscribers migrated to 5G. Total 4G subscriptions at around 5.2 billion, accounting for 60% of all mobile subscriptions.
- WCDMA/HSPA: Declined by 34 million, while GSM/EDGE-only subscriptions dropped by 41 million.
Mobile Network Traffic:
- Growth: Between Q2 2023 and Q2 2024, mobile network data traffic grew by 28 EB per month, reaching 151 EB per month, marking a 23% year-on-year growth rate.
- Quarter-on-quarter Growth: About 4% growth from Q1 2024 to Q2 2024.
- Drivers: Continued smartphone subscription growth, migration to 4G and 5G, and increased average data volume per subscription, fueled by data-intensive services like video.
- Traffic Levels: Show significant variation across markets, regions, and service providers.
