Toensureanimpartialandunbiasedsample,thisreport’sdatawasgatheredthroughasurveywithparticipantsselectedviaathird-partypanelprovider,inOctober2023. GenerativeAItoolsareanothergrowingarea,particularlyfordataanalysisandwritingtasks.Thatsaid,theuseofAIisnotaswidespreadasnewscoveragemightsuggest:67%ofrespondentstoldusAIisneverusedorusedtoalimitedextentintheirbusinesses. Whenitcomestothetechinnovationsthatbusinessesanticipateboostingtheirorganization’sperformancein2024themost,someofourkeyfindingsinclude: •Communicationandcollaborationtoolsarethemostimportanttechinnovationsforbusinessgrowth,citedby46%and34%ofrespondentsashavingahighorveryhigheffectontheiroperationin2024. •80%ofbusinesseswiththemostcollaborationtoolsalsoreportedthehighestorganization-wideproductivitylevels. •5GandtheInternetofThings(IoT)arealsoamongthemostimpactfultechnologiesof2024. •AIadaptationisslow:Twooutofeverythreerespondents(67%)saythatAItoolsarenotusedatall(34%)ortoalimitedextent(33%)withintheirorganizations. •Just4%ofrespondentssayAItoolsare“fullyintegrated” withintheirorganization. •ButAIishelpful:59%ofthosewhouseAIwithintheirownrolesaythatithasimprovedjobsatisfaction,while30%reportasignificantorsubstantialimpactontheirworkprocesses. Communicationandcollaborationtoolsalsorankedamongtheleastlikelytoolstobejudgedashavingaminimalanticipatedimpact.Just11%ofrespondentssaidcommunicationtechnologywouldhavea“veryloweffect”ontheirorganizationin2024,andonly16%saidonlinecollaborationtoolswouldhavea“verylowimpact”duringtheyear.
