The Scottish Futures Trust has released a commercial insights paper on the top ten considerations for local authorities when developing future concession or service type contracts with the private sector to expand public Electric Vehicle (EV) charging services at scale. The paper is based on feedback from the market gathered over the past two years and is supported by the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund, which will provide up to £30m of public sector funds to leverage private investment for public EV charging services. The paper sets out ten commercial considerations for local authorities, including specifying requirements based on outcomes for localities rather than prescribing numbers, type, and capacity, and identifying priority sites for EV charging infrastructure. The suggested approach for local authorities is to consider each initiative on a case by case basis to reflect project specific circumstances and further developments in the market.
