This report provides an overview of the digital transformation status of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Austria in 2017. The study was conducted by Arthur D. Little Austria, the Chamber of Commerce of Austria, Hutchison Drei Austria, and the Institute Board of the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The online survey was sent to 1,700 companies from all 7 sectors of the Chamber of Commerce and was completed by 600 companies. The study aimed to provide an overview of the digital transformation of the SME landscape and to identify drivers and challenges. A digital transformation index was created based on 5 thematic fields that are essential to the company's operations. The study found significant differences between the digital behavior of users and the digitalization of companies. The study will be repeated every five years to track progress.
