BUSINESSREVIEW Althoughinboundtourismhascontinuedtorecoversincetheliftingoftravelrestrictionsinthefirstquarterof2023,theperformanceoftheretailtradewasnotasgoodasexpectedduetoglobaleconomicuncertainties.Theroadtorecoveryfortheretailtradewasfraughtwithdifficultiesandchallenges.Consideringtheuncertainretailenvironment,theGroupfocusedondevelopingitswholesalebusinessduringtheReviewPeriod,buttheperformanceofthewholesalebusinesswasstillpoor. Asforthetradingbusiness,themajorproductssoldbytheGroupincludeurea,compoundfertiliser,coal,crudeglycerineandglucoseandtheapplicationofureacanbebroadlydividedintoagricultural,industrialandvehicleuses.DuringtheReviewPeriod,asrawmaterialpricesreturnedtoareasonablerange,fertiliserpricesalsoshowedadownwardtrend.Coupledwithlowerthanexpectedmarketdemandandfallinginternationalfertiliserprices,theoveralldomesticfertilisermarketwasslightlyweak.However,duetothesalesteam’scontinuouseffortstodiversifyitscustomerbase,theGroupachievedstablegrowthintradingvolumeoffertiliserduringtheReviewPeriodanditstradingbusinessrecordedaslightincreaseinrevenue. Leveragingonthesuccessintradingofcompoundfertiliserandurea,theGrouphasgainedextensivemarketknowledgeandestablishedstrongrelationshipswithitscustomers.InSeptember2023,theGroupenteredintoaleaseagreementwithathirdpartytoleaseaproductionlineofcompoundfertiliserwithanannualproductioncapacityof30,000tonnesforaninitialleasetermoftwoyearscommencingon5October2023.Sincethen,theGrouphassuccessfullyexpandeditsbusinesstothemanufactureandsalesofcompoundfertilisers.Thenewbusinesswasconductedsmoothlyandrecordedprofits,therebybringinggrowthopportunitiestotheGroup.
