The UK government has issued guidance to retailers on its UK Business Climate Hub, making numerous recommendations for retailers to reduce their carbon footprint and meet the net-zero transition. Retailers should respond to growing consumer demand for sustainable products, assess existing products and consider more sustainable options, source products made sustainably from recycled and recyclable materials, reduce packaging or switch to more eco-friendly options, stock products made closer to home to reduce transport costs and emissions, and be powered by renewable energy. The retail industry has a real opportunity to offer low-carbon products and services integral to the net-zero transition.
