LookingbacktotheFinancialYear,theoveralleconomicclimatewasunprecedentedlyseverebeforetheclearanceofcustomsbetweenChinaandHongKongatthebeginningof2023.TheGroup’sbusinesswasinevitablyadverselyaffectedbytheimpactoftheprolongedCOVID-19pandemic,inparticular,theoccurrenceofbankruptcyorderegistrationtoseveralcustomersoftheGroupforcedittoencounterdifficultiesandchallengesincollectingoutstandingreceivablesowedbythemundervariousbusinesses.AlthoughtheGrouphasendeavoredtoconsolidateitsexistingbusinessesandstrengtheneditscostcontrolduringtheFinancialYear,theGrouprecordedasignificantlossfortheyearafteraccountingfortheprovisionforimpairmentlossonreceivablesfromcustomers. Lookingahead,theGroupiscautiouslyoptimisticabouttheeconomicrecoveryofChinaandHongKong,butisalsoconcernedabouttheuncertaintiesinthecurrentworldmacrosituation,suchasmilitaryconflicts,competitionamongmajorpowersandinflationarypressure.Amidstthisonce-in-a-centurylandscape,theGrouphopestoseeknewstructuraladjustmentsandnewdevelopmentopportunitiesonthebasisofstabilizingitsexistingbusinesses,soastoincreasetheGroup’sprofitabilityandenhanceitssustainableoperatingcapabilities.
