Themacroeconomicenvironmentof2022wasfullofuncertaintyandpresentednewchallenges.Inflation,theinterestratepolicyoftheFederalReserve,thestrengthoftheUSdollar,andtheRussian-Ukrainewarallhadasignificantimpactontheeconomyandthestockmarkets.SinceMarch2022,theFederalReservehasbeensteadilyraisingborrowingcoststocurbstubbornlyhighinflation.ThewarinUkrainehasalsohadglobalrippleeffectsonpricesforenergy,food,andothercommodities.TheexchangeratesoftheUSdollaragainstmajorcurrenciessuchastheJapaneseYen,Renminbi,theEuro,andtheBritishpoundareattheirhighestlevelsinthepastdecade. UndertheleadershipoftheBoardandwiththecollectiveeffortsofallstaff,Goldstonehasbeentransforminginapositivedirectionandgraduallyovercomingpastchallenges,itsadministrativeandotheroperatingexpensessignificantlyreducedby40.7%throughthecautiouscostcontrolmeasurescarriedoutintheyearunderreview.Themanagementteamhasbeenpreparingforseriesoffundraisingandidentifyingnewinvestmentprojectswithgoodprospectsandreturnsunderthetremendouslychallengingeconomicenvironment,thuslayingasolidfoundationforthefuturegrowthoftheCompany. Duringtheyearunderreview,theinvestedprojectsoftheCompanyincluded(1)E-ComHoldingsPte.Ltd.,acompanyprincipallyengagedintheprovisionofChinesee-learningplatforms.Chinesee-learningplatformsareavailableinmostoftheprimaryschoolsinSingaporeanditscoverageisgraduallyexpandingintootherAsianPacificregions;(2)theHongKonglistedequityinvestmentheldbytheCompanyand(3)unlistedinvestmentfunds. Lookingahead,theyear2023willbeayearfullofuncertaintyandchallenges.Inflationisexpectedtocooldownandtherisksfacinginflationprospectshavebecomemorebalancedindevelopedmarkets.ChinaisrestartingtheeconomyatafasterpacethanexpectedandHongKongisalsograduallyrecoveringfromthepandemic.Underthenewenvironment,themanagementteamwillcontinuetobeproactiveandseizealltheopportunitiesbro
