The report "Reducing CO2 from trucks: progress in practice" discusses the progress made in reducing pollutant emissions from heavy-duty vehicles, such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particles (PM), and the shift towards reducing CO2 emissions. The report states that between the early nineties and 2013, six sets of 'Euro' standards were introduced, resulting in near-zero levels of pollutant emissions from the latest Euro VI heavy-duty vehicles. However, reducing CO2 emissions requires conflicting measures with reducing pollutant emissions, making it difficult to decrease CO2 emissions simultaneously. Despite this, the industry has been successful in reducing CO2 emissions by about 8% over the last five years. The report also provides data collected by various independent truck testing organizations between 2011 and 2016, which confirms the progress made by the truck industry in reducing CO2 emissions.
