The 2030 target for CO2 reduction in the European automotive industry is conditional on the real market uptake of electrically-chargeable vehicles (ECVs) and the availability of charging infrastructure. The target is set at a 20% reduction from a 2021 WLTP baseline. This target will be reviewed mid-term in 2025 and can be adjusted upwards or downwards based on the number of charging points available and ECV registrations. The goal is to achieve a 20% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030, which is derived from a 2021 WLTP baseline. The European automotive industry position is to support this target and to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to support the growth of ECVs.
