The ACEA Policy Paper Road freight transport on the way to carbon neutrality is a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and opportunities facing the road freight transport industry in the fight against climate change. The paper emphasizes the urgent need for swift and determined action to reduce CO2 emissions from road freight transport globally, in order to avoid crossing climate tipping points and reach carbon neutrality. The paper calls for sound and fact-based decision making, based on the open exchange of ideas and collaboration, to achieve this goal. The partnership between the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) is highlighted as a key step in this process, as it will provide clarity to all stakeholders and policy makers of the industry's goal, identify challenges that need to be taken into account in the transformation to carbon neutrality, and provide a plan to minimize risks and outline the necessary actions needed to achieve carbon neutrality.
