The ACEA Vehicles in Use Report for January 2021 shows that the European Union's passenger car fleet grew by 1.8% in 2019, reaching 242.7 million vehicles. France had the highest growth rate of 7%, while the French market contracted slightly by 0.3%. The EU has over 28 million vans in circulation, with France having the largest fleet of 6 million vehicles, followed by Italy, Spain, and Germany. There are 6.2 million medium and heavy commercial vehicles on EU roads, with Poland having the largest fleet of almost 1.2 million trucks, followed by Germany and Italy. The EU has around 692,207 buses in operation, with almost half of them in three countries alone.
