The California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) has submitted a report titled "Putting California on the High Road: A Jobs and Climate Action Plan for 2030" to the Legislature. The report was prepared by the UC Berkeley Center for Labor Research and Education and offers a vision for integrating economic and workforce development into major climate policies and programs in order to help achieve California's major climate goals. The report focuses on job quality and social equity concerns in assessing the impacts of climate measures on employment and training, and emphasizes strategies to ensure disadvantaged communities and workers are involved in creating and benefiting from the economic gains generated by the work required to stabilize the climate. The report provides a framework for maximizing the positive labor market outcomes of California's climate investments, while advancing equity and mobility for Californians and delivering skills and competitiveness for California employers.
