This report examines the development of unconventional oil and gas resources in Latin America and how to create momentum for such developments in new countries. The report notes that unconventional oil production has grown in recent years despite low oil prices, and that despite a decrease in production in the US in 2015, unconventional resources have maintained a relevant role in the global supply. The report also discusses the perspectives for unconventional resources in selected Latin American countries and concludes that there is potential for growth in the region.
