The study conducted by GEP and the Supply Chain Resource Cooperative at North Carolina State University found that there are significant gaps in the supply chain, which can result in a drag on productivity and optimization. The procurement and supply chain gap was rated as the No. 1 gap by survey respondents, with 59% of executives rating it as a major issue. The study examined nine common gaps in the supply chain, including sourcing, warehouse/transportation, and supply chain planning/execution. The most pressing pain points were identified as the procurement and supply chain gap, followed by the warehouse/transportation gap and supply chain planning/execution gap. These gaps can lead to disruptions and inefficiencies in the supply chain, and companies need to focus on addressing them to ensure supply chain resilience and optimization.
