The Atradius Payment Practices Barometer survey results for China show that the percentage of B2B sales on credit terms has increased slightly from 40.7% in 2016 to 42.7% in 2017. However, China remains the country in the Asia Pacific region where respondents are least likely to use this method of payment. The survey also found that the percentage of B2B sales on credit to foreign customers increased from 34.4% in 2016 to 38.6% in 2017. Chinese respondents' aversion to selling on credit is slightly more focused on foreign than on domestic transactions, compared to the regional averages. The potential impact of the Communist Party Congress in the fall of 2017, which is expected to rein in credit growth, is a major concern for suppliers within the country as well as those in countries trading with China.
