The Japanese economy is expected to expand by 1.6% in 2017, which may lead to an increase in the use of credit terms in B2B sales. The total value of B2B sales on credit in Japan increased to 53.7% this year, making it the most credit-friendly country in the Asia Pacific region. The average percentage of domestic B2B sales on credit made by respondents in Japan remained relatively unchanged at 57.1% compared to 57.7% in 2016. In contrast, the average percentage of B2B sales on credit to foreign B2B customers increased from 46.3% in 2016 to 50.3% this year. Japanese respondents are more likely to sell on credit terms to both their domestic and foreign B2B customers. Despite an increase in the percentage of B2B sales on credit to foreign B2B customers, Japanese respondents seem more likely to sell on credit terms to their domestic B2B customers. The percentage of B2B sales that are uncollectable is 1.4%, and 76% of sales are paid on time, while 24% are past due.
