The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) promotes the role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in rebuilding prosperity in the UK. With over 131,500 members and 362,000 students worldwide, ACCA has a significant presence in the UK, with 56% of its members working in or for SMEs. The SME Committee brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including accounting practitioners, academics, financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and SME representative bodies, to provide a unique perspective on small business policy. The Committee has published several policy papers on topics such as improving SME access to equity finance, supporting small businesses through the recession, and better regulation.
