The first workshop in a series of six global workshops focused on the alignment of sales and marketing was held at Columbia University on January 22, 2008. The event brought together 30 sales and marketing executives from various industries, including financial services and high tech. Attendees shared their experiences and insights on sales and marketing, and left with a renewed commitment to fostering a deep partnership and integrated alignment between the two functions to optimize the customer experience, exceed profit expectations, and serve internal sales and marketing teams. The facilitator and graphic recording artist encouraged participants to leave a mark on the event by sharing their hand and answering the age-old question, "What did you want to be when you grew up?" The event also featured a impressive baseball team, with at least a few writers present to document the games, a coach ready to lead, and a pilot or two ready to transport.
