The study examines the adoption of credit scoring technology by new private banks (NPBs) and state-owned public sector banks (PSBs) in India. NPBs adopt the technology quickly, while PSBs adopt it equally quickly for new borrowers but slowly for prior clients. The study suggests that the difference in adoption rates is due to the stickiness of past bank structures and managerial practices, which inhibit better practices today. The study is relevant to JELG21, G38, and O11.
