The semiconductor industry is taking measures to ensure the health and safety of its workers and the continuity of its operations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Semiconductors are a key enabling technology for electronic products critical to virtually all sectors of the economy, including healthcare, telecommunications, energy, finance, transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing. They are also essential components of technologies that control critical infrastructure and underpin IT systems that enable remote work and access to essential services. The industry is calling on governments to specify semiconductor operations as "essential infrastructure" and/or "essential business" to allow continuity in operations. The electronics supply chains are complex, and components undergo extensive quality control processes, making it crucial to maintain the flow of goods and services.
