The UK's shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) presents both opportunities and challenges for the automotive repair sector. EVs have lower upfront purchase costs and environmental benefits, and the government has announced plans to phase out petrol and diesel cars by 2030. However, EVs have fewer moving parts, which means they require less maintenance and cost at least 30% less to service than traditional vehicles. This puts a significant portion of the automotive repair industry's income at risk. Although EVs must still undergo an annual MOT test, they are easier to pass than traditional vehicles. The automotive repair sector must adapt to the changing market and find new ways to generate income and provide value to EV owners.
