The COVID-19 pandemic has elevated the role of Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in enabling enterprises to continue trading during hybrid working. The rapid shift to remote working during the first lockdown accelerated the adoption of technology by about three years, highlighting the need for the right person in the right role. CIOs who made the right decisions before the pandemic were able to move smoothly into remote working, while those who did not struggled to make the transition. The pandemic has shown that CIOs and their teams are one of the most vital parts of the organization, and those who took the right options have demonstrated the value of a CIO with the vision to implement a strategy based on resilience.
