Duringthefirsthalfof2023,therewereaseriesofchallengesaffectingthemacroeconomyandconsumerconfidence,includingtheescalationofRussia-Ukrainewar,thecontinuingofhighinflationratefornecessities,thetrendofrisinginterestratesandthefallofcertainbanksintheU.S.andEurope.Inaddition,asdisclosedontheannouncementdated14March2022and14June2023,theexclusivitytermbetweenthemajorcustomerofe-cigaretteproductswasremoved(“Exclusivity”).Therefore,thenumberofsalesordersfore-cigarettesproductswasaffected.TheGrouprecordedadecreaseinbothrevenueandprofitaftertaxduringthesixmonthsended30June2023. Duringthesixmonthsended30June2023,theGroup’stotalrevenueamountedtoapproximatelyHK$400.9million,representingadecreaseofapproximately29.8%comparedtothesameperiodlastyear(30June2022:HK$571.4million).TheGrouprecordedagrossprofitofapproximatelyHK$80.0million(30June2022:HK$119.3million)withagrossprofitmarginofapproximately20.0%(30June2022:20.9%). TheGrouprecordedaprofitforthesixmonthsended30June2023attributabletoequityholdersoftheCompanyofapproximatelyHK$20.6million(30June2022:HK$48.6million).BasicearningspershareattributabletoequityholdersoftheCompanywereapproximately3.33HKcents(30June2022:7.84HKcents).
