Ithasbeenexceedinglydifficulttoavoiddiscussingtheever-changingglobalpoliticalandfinanciallandscape,whichcancertainlyimpactourbusinessinHongKonginourboardmeetings.OneofthemainfactorsthatcontributedtothedeclineofHongKong’seconomicperformancelastyearwasChina’sstrictpolicytoeliminateCOVID-19,whichdisruptedtradeandtravel.AnotherfactorwastheRussian-Ukraineconflictthathasaffectedtheglobaleconomythroughseveralchannels,includingfinancialsanctions,commoditiesprices,andsupply-chaindisruptions. Ithascontributedtoadropinprojectedglobaleconomicgrowth.Theconflicthasalsocausedenergyandfoodpricestosoar,whichhasledtoinflationarypressurethat,inturn,madeleadingjurisdictionstightentheirfiscalandmonetarypolicieswithratehikestocurbinflation.Theseexternalfactorsimpactglobalproduction,trade,investment,andemploymentgrowth.Thereisnosignofanyimprovementintheseparametersanytimesoon. HongKong’seconomysuffereda3.5%contractionlastyear.China’seconomyexpandedbyjust3%in2022,slightlybelowthegovernment’sforecastsof3.2%becauseofthe“DynamicZeroCOVID-19”policy. HongKong’seconomyshowedsignsofrecoveryinthefirstquarterof2023,thankstothestrongreboundofinboundtourismanddomesticconsumption.AccordingtotheTradeDevelopmentCouncil’sJune2023report,therealGrossDomesticProductgrewby2.7%inrealtermsfromayearearlier,endingfourquartersofcontractionin2022.TheGovernmentforecastseconomicgrowthof3.5%to5.5%inrealtermsfor2023.Meanwhile,China’seconomyalsoregisteredarobustgrowthof4.5%inthefirstquarterof2023yearonyearataconstantprice,markinghighestgrowthsincethefirstquarteroflastyear.HongKongandChinahavebenefitedfromtheendofCOVIDrestrictionsandtheresumptionofregulartravelandbusinessactivities. 各位股东： 本人欣然代表本公司董事会向本公司股东提呈截至二零二三年三月三十一日止年度之全年业绩回顾及未来展望。
