TheGrouprecordedalossofapproximatelyHK$41.1millionfortheYear,ascomparedtothelossofapproximatelyHK$164.4millionforthePrecedingYear.ThereductioninthelossfortheYearismainlyattributableto(i)theincreaseintherevenuecontributedbytheParisMarriottHotelChamps-Elysées(the“ParisMarriottHotel”)fromthehoteloperationsegment;(ii)theabsenceofprovisionofimpairmentontheinvestmentinanassociateoftheCompanyfortheYear,astheinvestmentintheassociatehadbeenfullyprovidedforimpairment;(iii)theabsenceofshareoflossfromtheassociateoftheCompanyduringtheYear;(iv)thereductioninprovisionoftheexpectedcreditlossontheloanandinterestreceivablesfromtheassociateoftheCompany;and(v)therecordofthefairvaluegainasopposedtofairvaluelossfromtheunsecuredconvertiblebondssubscribedbytheCompanyfortheYear. TherevenuecontributedbytheParisMarriottHotelincreasedduringtheYear.Withtheliftingofalmostalloflockdownmeasuresandtravelrestrictions,thestrongdesiretoresumeinternationaltravelcausingtouristsflockedbacktoParis.Parishasseenandbenefitedfromtheriseofthe“revengetravel”trend.Thereturnoftheinternationalleisureguestshadledtostrongincreaseinguestroomprices.ThestrongdemandofhotelroomsinParishasshownpositivefeedbackonthesustainablereboundinoccupancy,averagedailyrateandrevenueperavailableroomoftheParisMarriottHotelin2022.DuringtheYear,theParisMarriottHotelwaspartiallyclosedtoundergothePhase1renovation(“Phase1Renovation”)ontheguestroomsandcorridorsfacingtheAvenuedesChamps-Elysées.Phase1RenovationofthehotelwascompletedinlateOctober2022.
