Equitymarketshaveremainedvolatile,drivenbychangingexpectationsofwhattheUSFederalReservewilldo.InthesixmonthsendingDecember2022,theUSFederalReserveliftedinterestrate4times,anda5thtimeinearly2023.ThetargetistotightentheUSeconomyandcoolinflation.Alargenumberofcentralbankshavefollowedsuitwiththeirowninterestrateincreases.Asaresult,wehaveseenPMIsgloballyweakenandatthesametime,wehaveseenequityvaluationsdropacrossalmostallassetclasses. SentimentfluctuatesregularlydependingonsentimentofwhethertheFederalReservehasincreasedratesadequatelyandcanpauseormightevenstarttocutinterestratesinthenottoodistantfutureorwhetherrateswilltocontinuetoincreaseduetoastrongerthanexpectedUSlabormarketandriskthatCPIandinflationremainstoohigh.
