In Q3 2022, the market share of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in the European Union increased to 11.9%, while diesel and petrol-powered vehicles still dominated the market with a combined share of 54.3%. Sales of diesel cars decreased by 4.7% to 360,596 units sold across the European Union. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) fell by 6.0% in the third quarter of the year, while hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) increased by 6.9% to make up 22.6% of the total market. Natural gas vehicles (NGVs) saw a slight increase in registrations.
