This report examines the challenges faced by global micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the post-pandemic era. MSMEs are a vital part of the global economy, accounting for over 90% of companies and 70% of total employment. However, the past two years have been particularly difficult for them due to the pandemic, supply chain issues, and rising business costs. Many MSMEs have been operating on the brink of failure for the past two years, with only weeks to two months of liquidity before failure. Alibaba.com, which has been a part of the MSME ecosystem since 1999, has a close relationship with small businesses and understands the challenges they face. The report highlights the experiences of one of Alibaba.com's female sellers in Italy, who was able to make her business global and minimize the effects of the pandemic thanks to the platform.
