DuringtheReviewPeriod,theconsumerelectronicsindustryrecoveredmoderately.ShipmentsofsmartphonesandPCsresumedgrowth,whileshipmentsofwearabledevicescontinuedtogrow.AccordingtoareportbytheChinaAcademyofInformationandCommunicationsTechnology,inthefirsthalfof2024,147millionmobilephoneswereshippedinthedomesticmarket,representingayear-on-yeargrowthof13.2%.NewtechnologiessuchasfoldingscreenandAIarebecomingthenewenginesthatdrivethedevelopmentofconsumerelectronics.Meanwhile,foreignexportsalsoreboundedafterhittingrockbottom,withChina’sintegratedcircuitexportsreachingRMB542.7billioninthefirsthalfof2024,representingayear-on-yeargrowthof25.6%,accordingtoGeneralAdministrationofCustomsofthePeople’sRepublicofChina.Intermsofprices,storagechipspricesliftedingeneralassupplyanddemandreturnedtobalanceandrawmaterialcostsrose.DrivenbyAItechnology,themarketdemandforhigh-performancecomputingchipsclimbedrapidly. Incontrast,affectedbytheglobaleconomicdownturnandweakindustrialandautomotiveapplicationsmarkets,theoveralldemandforanaloguechipshasnotgrownsignificantly,withaslightlyflatoverallperformance.However,drivenbynewenergyvehiclesaswellaswindandsolarenergystoragemarkets,theIGBTandthirdgenerationsemiconductorpowerdevicesmarketshowedstructuralrapidgrowth;newproductdemandinsegmentssuchasintelligentvehicleandindustrialcontrolalsoincreased.Withthegradualdeclineininventorylevelsandthedevelopmentof5G,IoTandautonomousdriving,demandforindustrialcontrolandautomotivesemiconductorproductsisexpectedtorecoverthereafter.
