Munich 1 Data Center Overview:
The Munich 1 Data Center provides 1,800 square meters of IT space, offering flexible colocation deployments and ancillary spaces. Its total power capacity stands at 3MVA, with an IT load of 1MW and an average power density of 1kW per square meter. The facility is supplied with power through a medium-voltage feed from the European grid via a local power supplier, featuring 3 x 1,000kVA transformer stations.
Cooling is managed through a redundant water-cooled system, complemented by free-cooling, which supports efficient thermal management. Cold air flows from the bottom to the top via raised floors, and star-shaped chilled water pipes are used to distribute cooling to CRAH units, with redundant pumps ensuring reliability. Pipe routes are located outside the data center space in maintenance corridors, which are equipped with leak detection systems.
For fire protection, the data center utilizes an automatic digital fire alarm system, a Very Early Smoke Detection Alarm System (VESDA), mobile gas extinguishing systems, and hand-held fire extinguishers. Fire protection walls ensure a 90-minute fire resistance rating.
In terms of security, there is a Service Operation Center for security and operations, with video surveillance for both the external building facade and internal areas. Access control is provided through card swipe entry/exit to all doors. A preventive risk assessment ensures safety measures are up-to-date.
Connectivity is carrier- and cloud-neutral, featuring a mix of carriers and connectivity to internet exchanges and telecommunication network providers. The data center supports redundant cabling infrastructure, high-performance internet access, inter-data center connectivity, and a multi-service interconnection platform. It's part of the NTT DATA family and offers global connectivity options through its network.
The data center also provides additional services such as client implementation, installation, remote hands, and facility services. It adheres to several certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 27001 IT-Grundschutz, ISO 22301, ISO 50001, ISO 45001, PCI DSS, TISAX, and §8a (3) BSIG/KRITIS.
NTT DATA, as a leader in the global data center market, operates a large-scale platform across multiple continents, offering tailored infrastructure and consistent best practices across all data centers. It aims for net-zero emissions by 2030 and plans to power all data centers with 100% renewable energy by the same year.
