This research report, conducted by Teresa Tinsley and Kathryn Board in August 2014, explores the teaching of Chinese in the UK. The authors express gratitude to all those who contributed their time, expertise, and views to the research, including representatives from Confucius Institutes, CILT Cymru, NICILT, and nine schools visited for the project. The report also acknowledges participants at a London workshop and technical support from Keith Colley and Nicolas Rey de Castro. The authors take responsibility for any errors or omissions in the research or report. The report uses the term "Chinese" rather than "Mandarin" and defines all acronyms and educational terminology used.
