The ACEA Position Paper on Frequency Bands for V2X discusses the challenges with the 5.9 GHz band for V2X communication and supports investigations on using a lower carrier frequency, such as the 3.4-3.8 GHz frequency band. The paper highlights the development of protocols for an interoperable V2X system between vehicles and smart infrastructure in support of traffic safety applications. Standardization was finalized in 2014, and work on deployment issues began.
