The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2007 Report on Women and Entrepreneurship provides a comprehensive study of the role played by women in entrepreneurial activity across the world economy. The report covers 41 countries, representing more than 70% of the world's population and 93% of global GDP in 2007. The report highlights the key characteristics and context of female entrepreneurial activity and how it differs from that of their male counterparts. The report aims to advance the understanding of the needs of aspiring and existing female entrepreneurs and provide policy insights to develop and enhance an environment in which the spirit of women's entrepreneurship may flourish. The report is part of a series of reports undertaken by the GEM research project to provide a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of entrepreneurial activity across the world economy.
