This report examines the health insurance and demographics of California immigrants eligible for Deferred Action. The study was funded by The California Endowment and conducted by a team of researchers from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs. The authors thank several individuals for their contributions, including Tanya Broder, Beth Capell, Josue Chavarin, Richard Figueroa, Gabrielle Lessard, Mary June Flores, Jenifer MacGillvary, Randy Capps, Enrico Marcelli, Jeffrey Passel, Manuel Pastor, Marc Rosenblum, and Tom Wong. The study was based on information available as of September 2015. The authors found that the expansion of DACA and DAPA programs had the potential to increase the number of eligible immigrants in California, but it is unclear how many individuals will actually enroll in health insurance. The report also notes that there are significant disparities in health insurance coverage among different demographic groups of immigrants, and that many undocumented immigrants may be unable to access affordable health care due to language barriers and lack of documentation.
