Procurement 4.0 is the transformation of procurement into an agile, linked innovation leader and catalyst. The report highlights the challenges of generating procurement value in complex and volatile supply chains, which are characterized by decreasing in-house value-add, global and unstable markets, and rapid technological development. To address these challenges, procurement will need to shift its priority to increasing enterprise value by enabling innovation with suppliers, the "crowd" and start-ups. At the same time, procurement will still need to ensure OTIF deliveries by real-time management of more complex supply chains at best life-cycle value.
