NGMN encourages the ITU-R Working Party 5D to lead the relevant studies. NGMN supports the ITU-R WRC-12 in its deliberation on Agenda Item 8.2 and seeks a positive outcome on future spectrum and band discussions to support the ongoing deployment of terrestrial mobile broadband applications utilizing IMT wireless technologies and systems. NGMN recognizes the success of mobile broadband delivered by IMT technology families, which has had a positive impact on economic and social development in both developed and developing countries. The growth in global mobile traffic and the number of subscriptions has been dramatic, with mobile broadband traffic increasing by over two-and-a-half times in 2010 alone. NGMN supports the continued development and deployment of mobile broadband technologies to meet the growing demand for mobile devices and services.
