This report, titled "The Cost of Inaction: Cardiovascular Disease in the Asia Pacific Region," was published by The Economist Intelligence Unit in 2020. It is a follow-up to the 2018 report "The Silent Cost: Cardiovascular Disease in Asia." The report presents an evaluation table for cardiovascular disease (CVD) secondary prevention in the Asia Pacific region, which was developed by The Economist Intelligence Unit's Healthcare team. The evaluation table assesses the burden of secondary CVD events and the response of healthcare systems in eight countries in the region: Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. The report also includes insights from 15 regional experts and in-depth interviews. The report concludes with a summary of the findings and recommendations for improving CVD secondary prevention in the region.
