The report "Natural Capital – what do accountants think?" by ACCA, KPMG, and Fauna and Flora International explores the concept of materiality and its application to natural capital issues. The survey of ACCA members found that accountants in 50 countries and 17 sectors are increasingly recognizing the importance of natural capital to their organizations. CFOs and finance directors, as well as CEOs and other executive board directors, were the most represented in the survey. The report highlights the long-term success of many organizations is dependent on the natural world, and the need for better accounting practices to reflect the significance of natural capital as a business issue.
