The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Secretary General, Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun, presented an overview of the GCC fertilizer market, highlighting its growth opportunities and the role of sustainability in the industry. The GCC fertilizer production capacity has grown at an annual rate of 10.3% over the past five decades, reaching 36.7 million tons in 2019. The abundance of natural resources, proximity to growing fertilizer markets in Asia, and increased demand for fertilizers have driven this growth. The industry is also focused on products diversification and sustainability, with a goal to foster innovation culture and drive HSE excellence. GPCA represents more than 95% of the chemicals output in the Arabian Gulf region by volume, with member companies from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and the UAE.
