Mapping China’s Multilateralism: A Data Survey of China’s Participation in Multilateral Development Institutions and Funds
This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of China's participation in multilateral development channels. It highlights that China's engagement in these institutions has increased over the past decade, reflecting its economic growth and policy choices. The paper collates data on China's financial and non-financial engagement with multilateral development banks, sector-based vertical funds, and the United Nations, among others. It also examines China's role in the multilateral development system and its voting power across the multilateral development banks. The paper brings to light the extent to which Chinese firms benefit from procurement opportunities in multilateral institutions. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into China's multilateral engagement and its impact on the global development landscape.
