Theconstructionindustryhasdemonstratedsignsofrecoveryduringtheyear,afterrunningoutofthebottomfromthelasttwoyearsunderthebackdropofCOVID-19epidemic.Althoughtheinvestmentsintheprivatesectorcontinuetobeconservativeduetoworldwideeconomicuncertaintiesandgeo-politicaltensions,tendersinthepublicsectorhavebecomeactiveagainastheHongKonggovernmenthasmadecommitmentstoincreasepublichousingsupply. AsmentionedinthelatestPolicyAddress2022,theChiefExecutivehasmovedaheadafewmajordevelopmentplanstoincreaseandspeeduphousingandlandsupplyinquantityandquality;tobuildupathirdCentralBusinessDistrict;andtodevelopHongKongintoanewinternationalinnovationandtechnologycity.NewdevelopmentplansincludetheNorthernMetropolis,KauYiChauArtificialIslandandTseungKwanOArea137. TheChiefExecutivealsoplanstotakeforwardthreemajorroadprojectsandthreestrategicrailwayprojects,includingNorthernMetropolisHighway,ShatinBypass,TseungKwanO-YauTongTunnel,anewCentralRailLink,HongKong-ShenzhenWesternRailLinkandTseungKwunOSouthernLinetobringaboutahighlyinter-connectedandaccessibleroadnetworkandrailsystemtosupportthefuturedevelopmentofHongKong.
