JointStatementontheestablishmentoftheEU-IndiaTradeandTechnologyCouncil PresidentoftheEuropeanCommission,MsUrsulavonderLeyen,andPrimeMinisterofIndia,MrNarendraModi,agreedtolaunchtheEU-IndiaTradeandTechnologyCouncil(TTC)on25April2022. Rapidchangesintheworld’sgeopoliticalenvironmenthighlighttheneedfordeeperstrategicengagementbetweentheEUandIndiaasvibrantdemocracies,particularlyinthefieldsoftradeandtechnology.TheTTCisahigh-levelcoordinationplatformtotakethiscommonworkforward.ItwillallowtheEUandIndiatotacklestrategicchallengesatthenexusoftrade,trustedtechnologyandsecurity,andtodeepentheirbilateralrelationshipandhelpimplementpoliticalcommitmentsinthesefields. WiththisJointStatement,theEUandIndiaestablishtheirTTCanditsthreeWorkingGroups: 1.WorkingGrouponStrategicTechnologies,DigitalGovernanceandDigitalConnectivity; 2.WorkingGrouponGreenandCleanEnergyTechnologies;and 3.WorkingGrouponTrade,InvestmentandResilientValueChains. TheWorkingGroupswillnowstartpreparingforthefirstmeetingoftheTTC,whichwilltakeplacebeforethenextEU-IndiaSummit.
