ABOUTTHEPRESENTERS DrLesleyOnyonisHeadoftheChemicalsSafetyandHealthTeamattheWorldHealthOrganization(WHO)basedinGeneva,Switzerland. DrOnyonhasmorethan25yearsofexperienceinfieldsrelatingtochemicalsmanagement,poisoninformationandoccupationalandenvironmentalhealthatbothgovernmental(UKandAustralia)andintergovernmentallevels(OECD,UNEPandWHO).HercurrentrolesupportsWHOactivitiesrelatingtopoisoncentres,chemicals-relatedaspectsofemergencypreparednessandresponseaswellasnormativeworkonthepreventionandmanagementofhumanexposuretoheavymetals,particularlyleadandmercury. DrGilbertKuepouoisExecutiveDirectoratCentredeRechercheetd'EducationpourleDéveloppement(CREPD)inCameroon.HealsoservesastheIPENCo-OrdinatorforFrancophoneAfrica. DrKuepouohasextensiveexperienceonSAICMissuesandhasbeeninvolvedinthenegotiationandnationalimplementationoftheBasel,RotterdamandStockholmconventions.HewasactivelyengagedintheenactmentofleadpaintregulationinCamerooninSeptember2017.HeiscurrentlyCo-ChairoftheIPENHeavyMetalWorkingGroup,andholdsaPh.D.ingeochemistryfromtheUniversityofKobe,Japan. ABOUTTHEPRESENTERS Eng.DanielCruzFuentes-IndependentconsultantinevaluationofenvironmentalrisksforhealthinBolivia,SouthAmerica.HehasexperiencewithUNandotherintergovernmentalorganisations,andwaspreviouslyinchargeoftheNationalEnvironmentalHealthManagementProgram(PNGSA)oftheBolivianMinistryofHealth. Eng.CruzholdsaMastersdegreeinDevelopmentStudiesandinEnvironmentalToxicologyandHealthRiskAssessment.In2022hesupportedanILPPWeventtoraiseawarenessofvulnerablegroupsexposedtochemicalsubstances.ThisinvolvedriskassessmentconductedwithPNGSA,andawarenessraisingforlead-relatedhealthrisks.Currently,Eng.CruziscollaboratingwithDr.AlfredoLaime,PNGSADirectorattheMinistryofHealth,todevelopastrategicplanandregulationtoeliminateleadpaint. MrRamCharitraSahistheExecutiveDirectorandanEnvironmentScientistattheCenterforPublicHealthandEnvironmentalDevelopment(CEPHED)inNepal.
