This report explores how emerging technologies like machine learning, chatbots, and the Internet of Things (IoT) can improve corporate travel program management, specifically in the area of duty of care. These technologies offer better options for tracking and assisting travelers, but more importantly, keeping them safe in the first place. Organizations have a legal and moral responsibility to look after the safety and well-being of their employees and other stakeholders, known as their duty of care. Fulfilling this duty of care towards employees is relatively straightforward when they are at their normal place of work, but it becomes more challenging when employees are traveling. Emerging technologies can bridge this gap by providing real-time monitoring and assistance, as well as predictive analytics to identify potential risks and take proactive measures to mitigate them. However, it is important for organizations to prepare and understand how these technologies can interact with different aspects of their travel programs, such as sourcing, policy, communications, payment, and performance management.
