The McKinsey Global Institute (MGI) is a research arm of McKinsey & Company that aims to provide insights and analysis on the global economy. Since its founding in 1990, MGI has focused on developing a deeper understanding of the evolving global economy through a combination of economics and management research. MGI's research methodology combines the analysis of microeconomic trends with the insights of business leaders to examine the broader macroeconomic forces affecting business strategy and public policy. The organization has published more than 20 country and industry reports, covering a range of themes including productivity and growth, natural resources, labor markets, global financial markets, technology and innovation, and urbanization. MGI is led by three senior partners at McKinsey & Company: James Manyika, Sven Smit, and Jonathan Woetzel, who also serve as co-chairs of the organization. MGI's project teams are led by partners and senior fellows, and include consultants from McKinsey's offices around the world.
